In April 1951, Hank was drafted into the United States army and completed six weeks basic training in the 60th Infantry Regiment at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Hank's parents were extremely proud of their son. (Fort Dix: May 1951)
Following basic training, Hank completed a twelve week course in radio at the 26th Field Artillery.
